Brookfield
House
Brookfield House
This single family home for a couple and their bicycles is a total reconstitution of a simple Toronto brick home that occupies a flanking inner city site.
Entered perpendicularly from the mid-point in plan, the house uses its full width in counter facing directions creating two very different living experiences and light conditions. Subtle level changes add to the range of spatial conditions. Large full height glass walls at both ends of the home can be opened up onto porches that face different gardens and are screened from the street. The program includes a fully equipped bicycle workshop that includes a clean-up area and shower for the bikes.
